The Association of the Owners of Private Freight Cars in the Republic of Bulgaria BALKAN PRIVAT WAGEN , /BPW/ is a voluntary pool of physical and juridical persons.
The Association is an independent non-profit organization, which conducts its activity in compliance with the Law for the Persons and the Family in the international and national legislation in the area of the railway transport.
The Association BPW is a member of the International Union of the Association of the Owners of Private Freight Cars – UIP – with headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.
Members of the national associations and UIP are the owners of freight cars, consignors, users of wagons and other associations concerned, with more than 180 000 private freight cars moving across Europe.
The private freight cars are built, maintained and used by private operators.
In a very close cooperation with consignors and railway administration, the owners of private freight cars have made savings over the decades.
Companies and private associations continuously finance the building and maintenance of the large rolling stock with new, modern types of private freight cars and in this way financially relieve the railway administration.
Cargo t ransportation in Europe is inconceivable without private freight cars, specialized for transport of chemical , alimentary and oil products.
The main purpose of the Association BPW is the comprehensive cooperation with the owners of the private freight cars in the field of :
-submission of information;
-submission of legal documents, concerning the operation, maintenance and repair of the private freight-cars.
The Association represents its members to local and external organizations, defends their interests and ensures the cooperation with the other national associations.
Devoted to the market orientation, BPW solves problems, connected to obstacles of technical, juridical, commercial and operative disposition, which obstruct the optimal use of private freight cars.
BPW insists to BDZ EAD, NC RRI and other railway administrations on the equal treatment of private freight cars and the wagons of the railway administrations .
The BPW Association periodically informs about its activity at international and national level by a newscast.
The BPW Association is working on the further development of the railway transport in Bulgaria and on the ties to the UIP and the national railway administrations.
